I feel as though this article brought up many important points about the future of education, or perhaps more accurately, described ways in which our education systems must adapt to the meet the present technology and culture of society. Visual literacy is an interesting topic, and one that I have heard very little about, despite having been exposed to an endless flow of pictures, videos, advertisements, news articles, etc. I think that without careful reflection on the images we are exposed to, misleading information, propaganda, and manipulated scenes can easily disrupt ones reality. I think this concept is especially obvious to me, for example, when the less technologically advanced generations come into contact with images that have been created by artificial intelligence or photoshopped. Many of them (including my parents / older relatives) do not have the experience to discern what is real and what is false. The ability to analyze and interpret images is an important skill, one that must be taught to future generations. The world is ever changing and the future we are heading towards embraces and entirely different atmosphere of learning and its crucial that we keep up to date with new standards for education.

I also thought it was a little bit ironic that an article explaining visual-literacy had so little images. I found it a bit tricky to stay focused and read the whole thing! It is certainly apparent to me how much the fast-paced online world has influenced me. Having to slow down, and then reluctantly read an article about visual learning was kind of funny when I realized how my own behavior illustrates some of the authors claims. I also think an article about visual literacy could have contained a couple more pictures to ease my young mind.
